Why are we dropping pop?

Meet Liz Nass. I would humbly refer to myself as the savior of entertainment journalism. The better E! News if you would. While hard-hitting journalism is what I came to college to do but like any frivolous journalist with a social media addiction, I can’t stay away from juicy gossip and entertainment news.

However, why does society have such a negative look on entertainment news and anything that doesn’t have to do with hard fact and intellectual subjects? On the daily, how many environmental pieces are you reading? How many politics stories are you reading? I don’t even want to ask how many local stories you’re reading because I probably know the answer. However, entertainment news makes it to you wherever you are even if you’re not looking for it. It is the one news source that is surely read everyday by at least most young people. So why would it be deemed less important than what most conumers aren’t consuming?

That’s why I want to drop pop right here. Pop culture is one of the most relevant parts of media still alive today. Everyone wants to know everyone else’s opinions on any given topic in mainstream media so that they can form their own opinion (its a hellscape, but that’s the reality). Life wouldn’t be the same without being able to see everyone’s hot takes on every platform we peruse everyday. This site allows you to find the only opinions that matter: mine (lol).

Here I will cover anything I want to unlike most of the news sites I work for, but also give you the things you care about most. Am I impartial to theater, politics, and juicy celebrity gossip? Absolutely. Just think you’re getting the most candid version of me and what I love to write. I’ve been told that my writing seems like a conversation with a friend and I like to call myself a Gossip Girl columnist. Hopefully, I can bring to you what you want most, and if I don’t, I hope you stay around longer because I cover everything and anything. While most of this will be blog content, I also want to do real articles with sources that bring you more of a well-rounded story than I can ever hope to bring by myself.

That’s why we drop pop: finding something that can find your niche and hyper fixated topic at the moment. Welcome to Pop Drop, I hope you enjoy it. :)
